“It’s A Wonderful Life in Zachary: A Celebration of Christmas Movie Classics” is the theme for the Zachary Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas parade.

The theme takes the magic of classics such as “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “A Christmas Story,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and others from the big screen to Main Street in Zachary, chamber officials said.

“The Zachary Chamber of Commerce is honored to play a central planning role for the Christmas parade by bringing the magic of Christmas movie classics to the community,” chamber Executive Director Heather Prejean said.

The holiday parade starts at 10 a.m. Dec. 13, leaving from LeBlanc’s Food Store, 2300 Church St., and continuing east along La. 64 to Main Street in downtown Zachary.

The annual parade committee invites children’s groups, community organizations and local businesses to use the Christmas movie classics to inspire their parade entries, which may include floats, trucks, dancers, marchers, decorative costumes, horses and more.

The chamber also is sponsoring that day a Shop Locally Day to kick off the holiday shopping season.

Chamber member businesses will offer special discounts, a chamber official said.
