Zachary mayor’s Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast set for Nov. 6 _lowres

Zachary Mayor David Amrhein extends an invitation for residents to attend the annual Mayor’s Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at First Baptist Church, Family Life Center, 4200 Main St.

This year’s theme is “Believe and Achieve.”

State Treasurer John Neely Kennedy will be the guest speaker. He was born and raised in Zachary and is a 1969 graduate of Zachary High School. William “Billy” Kline will serve as master of ceremonies.

A breakfast buffet prepared by the Zachary Fire Department will be served by members of the Rotary Club of Zachary starting at 7 a.m.

The event will feature Bible readings by Northwestern Middle and Copper Mill Elementary students, prayers by local clergy and musical performances by the Zachary High School jazz band and Bronco Beat choir.

Each year, the high school art department designs the event programs with one student’s artwork selected for the cover.

Ashlynn Bankston’s artwork, which best depicts this year’s theme, was chosen. She will be recognized at the ceremony.

Area businesses are invited to participate by decorating one of 45 tables with fall centerpieces.
