Chamber awards scholarship to 2015 Zachary graduate _lowres

Myiah Smothers is the 2015 scholarship recipient of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce.

Smothers, a May graduate of Zachary High School, is the daughter of Brad and Lisa Smothers.

Excelling both in and out of the classroom, Smothers earned a 3.75 GPA and participated in many extracurricular activities while attending ZHS, including the Beta Club, National Honor Society, as a dancer for the Bronco Belles and volunteering for various community events and community service activities.

Smothers is attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in biology.

Each year, the Zachary Chamber of Commerce awards a $500 scholarship to a student who is outstanding in and out of the classroom.

Qualifications include participation in extracurricular activities, serving the community, maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better for the last two years of high school and acceptance into a Louisiana college or university.
