Lane Regional Medical Center’s Endoscopy and Infusion Center Director Jason Gwyn, a registered nurse, received the Celebrate Nursing Award from the Baton Rouge District Nurses Association May 2.

The award recognizes nurses for their dedication to the advancement of nursing practice and who excel in nursing, encourage professional development and promote a positive image of nursing, according to a news release.

Gwyn is involved in a number of professional development programs and is a leader and advocate for nurses throughout the organization on many levels, the release said.

He was an integral team member in establishing Lane Cardiovascular Center’s cardiovascular and cath lab services and coordinated Lane Endoscopy Center’s construction, unit set-up and physical move into its new location inside the Lane Medical Plaza in Zachary.

Gwyn helped develop the nurse orientation program, patient pre-admit program and one of the hospital’s newer service lines, the Lane Infusion Center. He also has been involved with many of the shared governance councils instrumental in Lane receiving the Pathway to Excellence designation.

Gwyn is working to establish chemotherapy services at Lane RMC.

A native of Toronto, Canada, and a resident of Watson, Gwyn has more than 24 years of health care experience. He is married to Zachary native Michelle Wesson. The couple has two daughters, Karleigh and Jami.
