On October 24, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Zachary High student author C.J. Gray will be signing copies of his book “Four Strength Lions,” during a Scholastic Book Fair at the school library.

The Zachary High School library will host a Scholastic Book Fair on Oct. 24-26 during its celebration of Teen Read Week. The fair will help raise funds for the purchase of library books and equipment and to provide resources and support for a Texas high school library.

The book fair will be open each day from 6:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school library and will feature a wide range of books for young teens and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy series, sports guides, graphic novels and the latest best-sellers from more than 100 publishers. A section will include books for babies, toddlers and elementary-age children. Parents, children, teachers and the community are invited.

From 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24, the book fair will host a family night featuring student author C.J. Gray who will sign his book "Four Strength Lions," available for purchase at the fair. Games, including bean bag toss and horseshoes for younger children, will be available, refreshments will be served and drawings will be held for door prizes.

Student volunteers from Zachary High clubs will help run the fair. From managing inventory, assisting shoppers with their selections and helping with games, student volunteers learn real-life skills while helping to make reading for pleasure a cool activity at their school.

“Our library is working very hard to put on a great book fair event — one that promotes literacy and reading, especially during our celebration of Teen Read Week, while at the same time raising money for much-needed school resources at Zachary High and a Texas high school,” said Christina Knight, librarian at Zachary High.

Fair attendees can help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers through the Classroom Wish List program.

Proceeds from the fair will be used to purchase essential classroom resources and support school projects.
