A New Orleans man who robbed banks in Baton Rouge and the Crescent City and tried to rob a casino in Kinder has been sentenced to 15½ years in federal prison, acting U.S. Attorney Corey Amundson said Wednesday.
Gregory D. Chisolm, 53, was convicted of robbing a J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in Baton Rouge and a Whitney Bank in New Orleans, and attempting to rob the Coushatta Casino and Resort.
Police caught a man accused of robbing a Chase Bank in Baton Rouge on Jan. 12 after he tried to rob a Lake Charles casino.
Chisolm presented the teller in each robbery with a note demanding cash, and threatened to detonate an explosive device, Amundson said.
He made off with several thousand dollars in cash from the banks before he was caught while trying to rob the casino, Amundson stated.
