One of two men accused in the 2014 shooting death of a 29-year-old man on La Annie Drive pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter and was sentenced to 33 years in prison.

Steaphon S. Harris, 28, was charged originally with second-degree murder in the May 1, 2014, slaying of Elbert Marshall in a parking lot on La Annie.

Demond Bessie, 26, is scheduled to stand trial Oct. 16 on a second-degree murder charge in Marshall's killing.

Harris pleaded guilty before state District Judge Lou Daniel, who sentenced him. Daniel also presides over Bessie's case.
