A fire early Thursday in a vacant apartment at Brandywine Condominiums claimed the life of a 38-year-old man, officials said.

Joshua Ravencraft perished due to carbon monoxide poisoning secondary to the blaze, said East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner William “Beau” Clark, who classified the death as “accidental.”

The fire, at a multi-apartment building at 10950 Darryl Drive, was reported at 2:26 a.m. and contained to one vacant apartment.

The cause of the fire was undetermined. Baton Rouge fire investigators, the Baton Rouge Police Department, and the state Fire Marshals Office were investigating. Anyone with information about this fire may call (225) 354-1419.
