A Gonzales woman died in a single-vehicle crash early Friday, when the car she was driving failed to make a curve on La. 621 and overturned multiple times, State Police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m. Friday, Christine Reaux, 37, was traveling east on La. 621 in a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, when she lost control of the vehicle, State Police Troop A said in a news release.

The vehicle ran off the road and struck an embankment. Reaux, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car as it flipped, State Police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish coroner.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash, and a toxicology sample will be sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, according to the report.
