Zachary High student, identified via school security video, arrested on armed robbery and gun counts, police report _lowres

A Zachary High student was arrested Thursday after a man who said he was robbed at gunpoint was able to identify the robber from a school security video, Zachary Police said.

After the victim told police he knew the person who robbed him was a student at the high school, prompting the review of the security video.

The suspect, Jarred Hopkins, 18, at the urging of his father, met with officers who were looking for him, according to the report.

Jarred Hopkins was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, carrying a firearm by a student on school property and disturbing the peace.
