Louisiana State Police are crediting an alert trooper with locating a 3-year-old New Orleans boy and his apparently disoriented grandfather at a Livingston Parish convenience store.
Roland Williams, 45, and 3-year-old Roshei Selmon, were reported missing by New Orleans police around 3 a.m. Monday morning, said Sgt. Jared Sandifer, a State Police spokesman.
New Orleans authorities said the two were possibly traveling together in a beige 2007 Cadillac, Sandifer said, and State Police broadcast an alert to on-duty troopers to keep an eye out.
A trooper in Livingston Parish spotted the car outside a convenience store about 6 a.m. but no one was inside, Sandifer said, so the trooper searched the store and found Williams and his grandson near the restroom.
Acadian Ambulance medics checked both and found them in good condition, Sandifer said. Relatives from New Orleans picked them up to return home.
