Suspect named in Sunday shooting at St. Jean Apartments on South Harrells Ferry Road _lowres

James Ely, 26, is wanted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office on counts of attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.

A 26-year-old Baton Rouge man is wanted by East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputies for his role in a Sunday afternoon shooting at the St. Jean Apartments on South Harrells Ferry Road, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.

James Joseph Ely, 26, of 6453 Bluegrass Drive, is being sought on counts of attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, the spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

A man wounded in the shooting just before 3 p.m. at the apartment complex in the 16400 block of South Harrells Ferry Road was taken to the hospital with what Hicks said are non-life-threatening injuries.
