Man arrested, accused of indecent behavior
Baton Rouge police Friday arrested a 25-year-old man accused of indecent behavior with a 14-year-old girl.
Decoty Joseph was found lying in bed naked when a social worker from the Department of Child and Family Services came to an apartment Jan. 21 looking for the victim, according an arrest report. The victim, a runaway in custody of DCFS, was naked when she answered the door, the report says.
After the social worker reported the incident to police, she identified Joseph in a six-person photo lineup, the report says. Joseph was arrested Friday during a traffic stop, police said.
Joseph, 118 Cherry St., New Roads, was booked Friday into Parish Prison on counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, simple possession of marijuana, improper equipment, suspended driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance required.
Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash
Baton Rouge police Saturday released the name of the motorcyclist killed Friday in a three-vehicle crash in the east-bound lanes of the Interstate 10 Mississippi River bridge.
Roger Bentley, 47, lost control of his motorcycle on the bridge about 1:45 p.m. Friday, said Cpl. Don Coppola, a Baton Rouge police spokesman. Bentley crashed into the back of a tractor trailer, throwing him from his motorcycle and killing him, Coppola said.
Investigators believe Bentley was intoxicated at the time of the crash, Coppola said.
Teen arrested in theft, aggravated assault
A Baton Rouge teen who ran from police when they confronted him over littering was arrested by police after they discovered he was a suspect in an aggravated assault and misdemeanor theft.
Jaymirus Stewart, 17, was walking in the 5700 block of St. Gerard Avenue when he threw a “small object” on the ground, according to an arrest report.
When police approached him about the litter, Stewart ran away despite “loud verbal commands to stop,” the report says. The officer caught him about a half-mile away in the 5700 block of Evangeline Street, police said.
The officer identified Stewart and noticed he was listed as a suspect in an open case involving aggravated assault and misdemeanor theft, the report says.
Stewart, 5998 Cyrus Ave., was booked Thursday into Parish Prison on counts of littering in public places, resisting an officer, aggravated assault and misdemeanor theft. He was still in custody as of Saturday afternoon, booking records show.
12 booked on suspicion of DWI in EBR Parish
Authorities arrested at least 12 people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, booking records show.
