A Baton Rouge man accused of firing at least a dozen shots at a man he’d gotten into a fistfight with was arrested Friday, police said.
Rashad Muhammad, 25, is accused of shooting at the husband of a woman he’s in a relationship with after the two men got into an altercation at Muhammad’s residence, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department report.
The victim told police Muhammad shot at him as he tried to leave, the report says.
Officers responding to the shots fired call on Monday found several bullet shell casings and determined that two different guns had been fired, the report says.
The police department’s ShotSpotter system showed that two rounds were fired around 12:47 a.m., then 10 more were fired about two minutes later, the report says.
Muhammad admitted to fighting with the victim, but maintained he never pulled a gun, the report says.
Muhammad, 2364 Tennessee St., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on a count of aggravated assault with a firearm. He remains in jail in lieu of $7,500 bail, according to online booking records.
