A Sunday evening argument over money allegedly led a 32-year-old Baton Rouge man to choke a woman in front of their daughter and other children.
The woman had come to the home of Aaron Henry O’Conner in the 3500 block of Brady Street to ask him for money for their child, according to police documents. The victim told police O’Conner grew angry and grabbed her around the neck, attempted to strangle her and forced her out of the room while the woman’s daughter and O’Conner’s other children watched.
A Baton Rouge police officer dispatched to the scene arrested O’Conner, who claimed he was acting in self-defense when he grabbed the victim. According to the officer’s report, marks on the victim’s face and neck as well as the account of her daughter appeared to back up the victim’s claims that O’Conner had tried to hurt her.
