Two men have been arrested in a Thursday night shooting on George O’Neal Lane that left one dead, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Byron Maxson and Troy Carter, Jr., both 26, are both accused of shooting 38-year-old Ivan Molina at 16524 George O’Neal Lane, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Deputies say that at around 11 p.m. Thursday, Molina answered the door to his home and stepped outside -- and that was when witnesses heard gunshots, and moments later found Molina lying on his porch with bullet wounds, and shell casings scattered beside him, according to a police report.
Before Molina died at a local hospital, he was able to tell deputies that he and Maxson were in an ongoing dispute and that Maxson shot him, the report says.
Maxson, of 4949 Stumberg Lane, was booked late Friday on counts of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, while Carter was arrested early Saturday and will be booked on the same counts, Hicks said.
Carter also suffered a gunshot wound from the Thursday night incident that had not been treated, and deputies took him to a hospital on Friday for his injury before booking him, Hicks added. It is not yet clear how Carter was injured.
