Baton Rouge police are investigating a shooting in north Baton Rouge late Saturday in which one person was killed and another hospitalized.

Two men — Jovan Dumas, 31, and an unidentified 29-year-old man — were shot at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at 1073 Baranco St., according to Cpl. L’Jean Mckneely Jr., a spokesman for the Baton Rouge Police Department. The address is near Southern University.

Dumas, of 4866 Banks St., died at the scene. The other victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, Mckneely said.
