Baton Rouge police are investigating a body found around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning by an utility worker in an outdoor area on the side of a house at 1050 Waverly Drive.
East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark said the body, suspected to be male, is “skeletonized,” meaning it’s “at advanced stages of decomposition.”
“That’s what happens, especially in South Louisiana because it’s so hot down here. The temperature starts to decompose you rapidly if you’re outside,” he said.
The coroner’s office will conduct a forensic medical examination Wednesday and will work with LSU’s FACES laboratory, an organization specializing in facial reconstruction, Clark said.
Clark said he hasn’t determined how long the body has been deceased, and has not ruled out foul play.
