Detectives arrested a man Monday night accused of fatally shooting his daughter’s boyfriend, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
The shooting occurred at 11388 Blackwater Road about 7:15 p.m., spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
Wayne Landry, 57, 11388 Blackwater Road, was booked with second-degree murder, Hicks said in the release.
Landry is accused of killing Scott Shipp, 23, 18609 Greenwell Springs Road, No. 12, Hicks said.
Deputies received a call about a disturbance and a shot fired at the home , Hicks said.
Deputies arrived to find Shipp dead outside the home and Landry standing near the door of his home, Hicks said in the release.
According to reports, Shipp and Landry had arguments earlier in the day in which Landry told Shipp not to return to his home. On Monday night, Shipp went to Landry’s home with his girlfriend, Hicks said.
She went inside the home and Shipp remained outside in the vehicle, Hicks said.
Landry then called the Sheriff’s Office to come and remove Shipp from his property, Hicks said.
While deputies were on the way, Shipp knocked on the door and Landry said he told him to leave, Hicks said.
When Shipp refused, Landry allegedly shot Shipp, who was unarmed, the release said.
