Baton Rouge police on Wednesday arrested a 37-year-old Port Allen woman accused of running over a pregnant woman with an SUV following an argument a few weeks ago.

Annie Collins allegedly struck the pregnant woman with a Ford Explorer three times before eventually driving over the woman on April 1 near Geronimo Street, according to a police report.

The alleged hit-and-run occurred after the pregnant woman “hit (Collins) with something” during an argument, the report says.

Collins also is accused of striking a Honda Accord with her SUV while the pregnant woman tried to hide behind the Honda, the report says.

Collins fled the scene after running over the pregnant woman, the report says.

The victim suffered “multiple injuries to the mid section” and was taken to a hospital following the incident, according to the report, which doesn’t make clear how old the victim was or how many weeks pregnant she was.

A police spokesman said Wednesday evening that the woman’s condition was unavailable.

Collins, of 4173 Mulatto Bend Road, Port Allen, was booked into Parish Prison on a count of attempted second-degree murder. Her bail was set at $100,000, booking records show.
