A 30-year-old man was arrested by Baton Rouge police Thursday after choking the daughter of a woman he had been living with.
On Monday, Calvin Raynard Jones got into an argument with the woman at the apartment they had shared for the last few months, along with her children, Baton Rouge police said in a report.
When the victim and Jones got into an argument, the victim told her oldest daughter to wake up her other children because they were going to leave, the report says. When the daughter tried to do so, Jones grabbed the girl by the throat, choked her and pushed her against a wall. He then told her to get on her knees and stay still, which she did, the report says.
Police conducted a follow-up interview with the mother and daughter Thursday and then arrested Jones later that day.
Jones, who lived at 3030 Congress Blvd., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of domestic abuse battery by strangulation and cruelty to juveniles.
At the time of the arrest, police discovered he also had an outstanding warrant from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office for domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment against the mother.
