Investigators suspect arson was the cause of a fire that damaged a home around noon Tuesday at 1731 North 38th Street in Baton Rouge, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 11:46 a.m. to find a front room of the home on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the home. No one was at home at the time, but the residents did arrive after the fire was out. Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.

Damage was estimated at $25,000.
