Thieves stole $15,000 worth of prescription drugs and a couple hundred dollars in cash Tuesday after breaking into Express Pharmacy on North Foster Drive, a police spokesman said.

The thieves cut a chain off a back gate to gain access to the building at 3328 N. Foster Drive, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

The thieves then cut the power supply to the building and carved a hole in the building’s back wall.

The thieves then smashed a window separating the pharmacy from the other part of the business to gain access to the drugs and money, he said.

Despite the power supply being cut, the building’s alarm alerted police, McKneely said. The thieves were gone when police arrived.
