A 21-year-old man was critically injured in a Wednesday night shooting near the Boulevard de Province BREC park, Baton Rouge police said.

The man, who was shot in the head, remained in critical condition Thursday morning, said Cpl, L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman.

Police responded to the 1900 block of Boulevard de Province at about 10 p.m. and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Police also found shell casings at the nearby park, but they aren’t sure whether those casings were related to the Wednesday night shooting, McKneely said.

Police have not identified a motive or suspect in the shooting.

Police asked anyone with information about this incident to call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
