A Walker woman was arrested after she struck two women with a vehicle on La. 1062 in Tangipahoa Parish early Saturday morning, State Police said in a news release.

Charlotte Woods Ross, of Loranger, and Angel Aimmons Gill, of Husser, were walking in the middle of La. 1062’s eastbound lane about 4 a.m. when Katy Robertson, traveling eastbound in a Mercury Grand Marquis, struck both pedestrians, the release says.

Robertson, 26, left the scene afterward and called a friend for help. Robertson told her friend that she had been involved in an accident with a deer, and her friend went to the scene and found Ross’ and Gill’s bodies, the release says.

Ross, 32, and Fill, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.

Police arrested Robertson on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the release says, after which she provided a voluntary breath sample, which revealed a 0.135 percent blood-alcohol level. A level of 0.08 is considered presumptive evidence of drunken driving.

Robertson was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on two counts of vehicular homicide.
