An East Baton Rouge Parish woman is accused of stabbing her husband in the back with a kitchen knife after he was found bleeding in parking lot near their home.

East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputies booked Tanya Vessel, 29, of the 16000 block of Batavia Avenue, into parish prison on counts of attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse.

According to arrest documents, her husband — who was not named — was found by a business owner in a parking lot near the couple’s residence bleeding and wearing blood-soaked clothing.

The report says the victim’s stab wound was 4 inches deep and 2 inches wide. He refused an ambulance but was later taken to the hospital by a third party, the report says, and identified his wife as the woman who stabbed him.

When deputies checked the couple’s home, they found a broken window and displaced furniture — “indicating there was possibly a struggle,” according to arrest documents.

The arrest report says the victim was stabbed during an argument with his wife.
