A shooting left one man dead and another wounded on North Foster Drive Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Drexel Platt, 42, and an unidentified 50-year-old man were shot around 1 p.m. Saturday at 1825 North Foster Drive, said Sgt. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman.

Platt, 6405 Howell Range Ave., was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, Coppola said. The second victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, he said.

The circumstances that led to the shooting remained unclear late Saturday as police continued their investigation. Police say they have not identified any motive or suspect.

As rain poured Saturday afternoon, a few onlookers stood across the street under umbrellas and watched as police looked for evidence at QU’s Auto Sales, which is near the intersection of North Foster Drive and Jefferson Avenue.

Several evidence markers sat on the ground next to two cars parked under a covered driveway in front of a building at the car dealership. Investigators could also be seen looking around a dimly lit office inside the building with a flashlight, but focused much of their attenion on the area around the two vehicles parked outside — an older green car and a newer red Cadillac CTS.

An evidence marker was placed on the trunk of the green car. The Cadillac was jacked up with one wheel removed and the hood open, as if someone had been working on the vehicle.

The address of Saturday’s shooting is where police in December 2014 found 35-year-old Braden Larvadain shot multiple times in the parking lot. Larvadain later died at a local hospital.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
