Authorities on Wednesday arrested a Baton Rouge man accused of trying to drive over several police officers after he had smoked synthetic marijuana.
Leandrew Thomas, 30, was parked on the 3100 block of Wyandotte Street when he fell asleep in the driver’s seat of his car with what’s believed to be a synthetic marijuana cigarette hanging from his mouth, according to the arrest report. When officers knocked on the window, Thomas drove backward through multiple stop signs and intersections without slowing down, nearly hitting several officers in the process, Baton Rouge police said.
Officers eventually stopped him a mile-and-a-half away, in front of his house at 4329 Joseph St., where they used a Taser on him, authorities said.
Thomas was booked Wednesday into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a peace officer, resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, suspended driver’s license and possession of marijuana.
