A 35-year-old bystander was wounded in the shoulder after multiple gunshots were fired during a fight on Scotland Avenue Saturday evening, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said Sunday.

The woman who was wounded was part of a large group hanging out in the 9100 block of Scotland Avenue about 7 p.m. Saturday when an argument broke out between several men in the group, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, the spokesam.

The argument turned into a fight that led to gunshots being fired at about 7:10 p.m. with one of the bullets striking the woman in the shoulder. No one else was wounded in the shooting, McKneely said. The victim, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a hospital. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, McKneely said, though it was unclear Sunday if she was still in the hospital.
