A man shot in the leg Wednesday evening just off Plank Road in Baton Rouge fled to a nearby food mart before being rushed to the hospital by paramedics.

The man, who’s in his early 20s, was shot on Pampas Street near Plank around 7 p.m. Wednesday, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman. The victim ran to the store at the corner of Plank Road and Mohican Street, where police and paramedics located him.

McKneely said the man’s wounds don’t appear to be life-threatening.

Other details on the shooting, including the current condition of the victim and whether police had identified a shooter, weren’t immediately available Wednesday night.
