A 17-year-old girl was killed and a male was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after they accidentally drove a four-wheeler into the path of an oncoming car on La. 22 on New Year’s Eve, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Erin Guillotte, 17, of Gonzales, and Dalton Guedry, whose age and place of residence were not immediately available, were riding the four-wheeler in a wooded area when they tried to cross La. 22 near Interstate 10 about 10 p.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The two got about halfway across the road when they braked to avoid the oncoming car — and the force of the sudden braking threw them off the four-wheeler and into the car’s path, Webre said.
Guillotte was pronounced dead at the scene, while Guedry remained in critical condition on Thursday afternoon. The driver and passenger of the oncoming car were not injured in the crash.
