The driver of the truck that hit a man and a woman walking in the 600 block of East Boyd Drive Thursday morning surrendered to authorities later that afternoon, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said.

Mark Almon, 21, 1120 Etta Drive, St. Gabriel, surrendered to authorities at 2:30 p.m. and was booked into Parish Prison on a count of felony hit and run, Sgt. Don Stone said.

Almon is accused of hitting a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man at 2:07 a.m. Thursday, sending them to a local hospital for treatment, Stone said.

One victim is in critical condition, the other in stable condition, he said.

The hit and run is under investigation.
