Police are searching for a Baton Rouge man accused of beating his girlfriend with a baseball bat because she posted a picture on Facebook of herself with another man.
A warrant was issued Thursday for the arrest of Demond Richard Harris, 23, accused of beating his girlfriend of six years at her apartment in front of their three children with a metal baseball bat Aug. 4, a Baton Rouge Police report says.
The victim told police Harris was questioning her about a picture she posted on Facebook with her “so called new boyfriend,” and she said an argument ensued. Harris took a bat from the dresser and began beating her, the report says. She put her arms up for protection, suffering several bruises to her forearms, the report says.
Harris then took the keys to her apartment and her car.
Harris, 2576 Shada Ave., does not have a criminal history, but several domestic incidents have been reported to the police, including simple battery, aggravated criminal damage to property and domestic abuse battery, the report says.
Harris is wanted on a count of domestic abuse battery, aggravated battery and theft under $50. He remains at large.
