Suspect in attack arrested, police say

A Baton Rouge man accused of banging a woman’s head against a wall several times and hitting their 1-year-old son in the face during an attack Dec. 17 has been arrested.

Drago Collins, 31, 6275 Matthew Drive, was booked him into Parish Prison on Tuesday on counts of cruelty to juveniles, violation of protective orders, false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon and aggravated battery following his arrest by Baton Rouge police, Parish Prison booking records show.

The victim told police she had a restraining order against Collins, an affidavit warrant said.

She was holding her infant son when Collins grabbed her, punched her in the face, smashed her head against a wall until she fell, then kicked her in the torso repeatedly, the warrant said.

The child sustained a bloody nose, the warrant said. When the woman tried to leave to get the infant medical treatment, Collins refused to let her leave and pressed a large kitchen knife against her, the warrant said.
