NAPOLEONVILLE - Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon is warning parish residents against scam phone callers claiming to be bank representatives seeking donations for children in Afghanistan.

Falcon said on Monday that residents have reported getting calls from people saying they're acting on behalf of Capital One Bank to raise money for the children.

"Capital One Bank is not engaged in any fund-raising efforts soliciting funds for Afghan causes," Falcon said in a news release.

Falcon asked that anyone who gets such a phone call contact the Sheriff's Office to report the incident, at (985) 369-2912.
