Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man Thursday in the beating death of his former roommate after investigators found the slain man’s blood on the teenager's clothes, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

David Gerardo Bueso was booked on a count of second-degree murder in the Aug. 5 slaying of 22-year-old Tercero Jhoel Brisuela at Brisuela's apartment in the 8600 block of Coy Avenue, according to an arrest report.

Brisuela was initially referred to as Jhoel Steven Brizuella, but East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark said his name is listed as Tercero Jhoel Brisuela on his Honduran birth certificate. Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, said Bueso, who is also from Honduras, and Brisuela were living in the U.S. illegally.

Deputies first began to question Bueso when witnesses told investigators that he was the last person seen with Brisuela before he was found dead, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

After locating him Sunday in a parking lot in the 12000 block of Coursey Boulevard, Bueso told investigators that he was the last person to be with Brisuela, but denied killing him, according to the report.

While they were interviewing Bueso, deputies discovered that a warrant had been issued in 2015 for his arrest in a November 2014 burglary of a Longridge apartment and arrested him. While booking him into Parish Prison, investigators noticed blood on his shoes, according to the report. Bueso told them that the clothes he was wearing the morning of the killing were in a Coursey Boulevard apartment.

Later that day, investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment where they found bloody clothing, according to the report. They sent the clothing to be tested for DNA and the results confirmed that the blood was Brisuela's, according to the arrest report.

In the warrant for his arrest in the burglary, Baton Rouge police said Bueso’s blood was found at the scene of the November 2014 burglary where a television, a gaming system and a cellphone were stolen.

Bueso is accused of breaking into the Longridge apartment on Nov. 13, 2014, through a broken window and leaving blood throughout the apartment. He was previously arrest twice for simple burglary, according to the warrant.
