East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies Saturday arrested a 26-year-old man accused of burglarizing a home in Zachary and later running from authorities.
Vontrail Walker was caught breaking into a house at 21615 Ligon Road just before 3 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report. A resident heard a noise in the hallway outside his bedroom, grabbed his gun and fired at Walker, who ran away, the report says.
The victim identified Walker, who lives less than a quarter-mile away at his grandmother’s house, deputies said. When investigators went to the house, Walker jumped from his bed and began attacking them, the report says.
Deputies used a stun gun on Walker and then handcuffed him but he got away from them and ran into a wooded area behind the house, the report says. He was captured shortly after and admitted to the burglary, the report says. Walker was also wanted on a 2013 warrant on counts of peeping tom.
Walker, 21662 Ligon Road, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of simple burglary, damage to property, simple escape, battery to a police officer and peeping tom.
