Baton Rouge Police arrested a 26-year-old known as “Duck” who allegedly shot another man in the ankle last week after demanding his clothes.
Ahmad Beauchamp, 2950 Linwood Drive, walked up to the unnamed victim shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 as he stood outside a building in the 2600 block of Lobelia Street, a Baton Rouge Police report says.
Beauchamp — known to the victim only as “Duck” — asked the man what he was doing on his turf, pulled out a pistol and demanded the man’s clothes, the report says. Beauchamp is accused of shooting the victim once in the ankle when the man refused to comply with his demands.
According to the report, the victim hopped in his vehicle and fled after being shot.
Baton Rouge patrol officers who work in the neighborhoods around the location of the shooting told detectives that Beauchamp goes by the name “Duck” and lived nearby, the report says.
The victim, presented with a photo lineup including Beauchamp’s picture, immediately identified Beauchamp as the shooter, the report says.
Police booked Beauchamp into Parish Prison Wednesday on counts of armed robbery and aggravated second-degree battery.
Bail is set at $75,000.
