A man accused of shooting his wife’s son in the leg Sunday night has been arrested by Baton Rouge police, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

James Hamilton, 54. 9102 Staring Court, has been booked with attempted second-degree murder, according to the affidavit.

The woman, a witness to what happened, told police she was in an argument with her son about her missing car because she thought he might have taken it when Hamilton walked into the room with a handgun, according to the the affidavit.

Hamilton fired two shots at the victim who was hit once in the leg.

Police found one shell casing in the living room floor of the home.
