Fish guts spilling out of a tractor trailer involved in a wreck shut down two lanes of eastbound I-10 near Acadian Thruway during rush hour Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said an SUV and a tractor trailer collided just before 4 p.m., but no one was injured.

The inside and center lanes of the highway were cordoned off, and pinkish clumps of dead fish remains were strewn across the concrete as of 4:45 p.m., producing an overwhelming odor.

Coppola said he didn’t have information on whether any citations were issued, as the crash is still under investigation.

Advocate staff photographer Hilary Scheinuk contributed to this report.
