State Police are investigating a crash on Plank Road that killed a 25-year-old man Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. near Dyer Road, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said.

Jeffrey Blackwell, of Baton Rouge, was driving northbound when his car crossed over the center line and crashed into an oncoming tractor trailer, Sandifer said.

Blackwell was not wearing a seat belt and died from his injuries, Sandifer said.

Investigators do not believe Blackwell was impaired. The crash is under investigation.

BR man booked in molestation of teen

Authorities on Tuesday arrested a Baton Rouge man accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl in March 2014.

Antwine Tyrone Dumas, now 25, touched the victim inappropriately while she was home alone, and then offered her shoes and other gifts to keep her from reporting the incident, the arrest warrant says.

Several days later, Dumas returned to the house with a friend, who raped the victim, police said. The victim told investigators she knew the man only by his nickname, “Phat,” the warrant says. It’s unclear whether an arrest has been made in that incident.

Dumas, 5151 Annette St., was booked Thursday into Parish Prison on counts of molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery.

His bail was set at $76,500, booking records show.
