BR man, 22, booked in fatal shooting on N. 35th Street _lowres

Advocate staff photo by RICHARD ALAN HANNON -- Multiple bullet holes, some fresh, riddle the facade to 1409 North 35th Street where Travis Mitchell, 25, was shot and killed in Baton Rouge late Wednesday night.

A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning as a suspect in an April 2 shooting on North 35th Street that left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Christopher Jackson, 22, of 11160 Susan St. and booked him into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of first degree murder, according to a news release from the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Motives for the shooting are unclear, according to police.

On the night of the shooting in the 1400 block of North 35th Street, a group of armed men stood outside a home and started shooting at around 11:45 p.m.

Travis Mitchell, 25, who lived at the home died from gunshots to the face and upper body. A 38-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to reports at the time.
