Baton Rouge Police identified and arrested the man accused of aiming a gun at an officer on Saturday.
Miketrez Jones, 22, was arrested without incident, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge Police spokesman.
Jones aimed a gun at an officer moments after the car he was riding in crashed at Plank Road and Bellvale Street, police have said. The car’s driver, Jacob Washington, 21, was leading two motorcycle officers on a chase after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation, police have said.
But after Washington’s car crashed, Jones emerged from the car and aimed the gun — and that was when an officer fired a single shot, and Jones took off running, McKneely said, adding that the bullet missed.
Jones, of 1916 Mulberry St., was booked Tuesday night into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of aggravated assault with a firearm upon a peace officer as well as resisting a police officer by force or violence. Washington faces counts of principal to aggravated assault with a firearm upon a peace officer, principal to resisting a police officer by force or violence, and obstruction of justice.
Zachary man iPhone-recorded sex assault
Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old man accused of rape and sexual battery on an intoxicated woman on Sunday — and using her iPhone to record the battery.
Hunter Campbell, of Zachary, admitted to police that he knew the woman was passed-out drunk on her friend’s bed when he sexually assaulted her, according to a deputy’s report. He also admitted to using her iPhone to record the crime, even though he knew she was unconscious, the report says.
When the woman awoke, she found the video on her phone and called police shortly after, according to the report.
Campbell, of 3016 March St., Zachary, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of sexual battery and simple rape.
