A North 48th Street home was severely damaged by a Wednesday morning fire.

Firefighters responded to the home at 1782 N. 48th St., shortly before noon and fought the fire for about an hour, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said in a news release.

No one was home during the blaze and investigators do not suspect foul play, Mark Miles, a Fire Department spokesman, said in the release.

The house had no electricity or gas services at the time of the fire, Miles said.

Smoke and flames heavily damaged the home.
