A Baton Rouge man was arrested Sunday in what fire investigators say was an arson on a vehicle.

Ulysses Jones, 33, is accused of intentionally setting fire to the engine of an automobile Saturday in the 1500 block of North 37th Street, where he lives, said Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte, in a statement. Investigators think the crime stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute, Monte said.

An affidavit by a fire investigator says the car’s battery was discovered missing, leaving no ignition source in the area. The document also alleges Jones sent a photo of the vehicle blaze to the victim as it was happening.

Jones, who was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, faces one count of simple arson.
