The first suspect arrested in the killings of a Baton Rouge couple at a Highland Road home was extradited to Baton Rouge from Florida on Friday.
Ernesto Llerena Alonso, 42, worked for Denis “Bubbie” Duplantier and Suzanne “Suzy” Duplantier and lived in a barn on the couple’s property. Alonso is accused of beating and strangling the pair in October at their home before moving the bodies with an accomplice to a Hammond truck stop.
Baton Rouge police announced Alonso’s apprehension in Florida on Oct. 21. He had been held at a jail in Broward County until extradition procedures were complete.
Last month, police arrested a relative of Alonso’s, accusing him of participating in the killings. It is unclear when 48-year-old Frank Garcia, the second suspect, will be moved to Baton Rouge.
Alonso was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
