A four-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on La. 19 near Thomas Road in East Baton Rouge Parish left a 32-year-old Baker man dead and two others injured.
An initial investigation found that Michael Henderson was driving at a high speed southbound on La. 19 in a 2003 Ford Expedition shortly after 5 p.m. when he struck another vehicle, then crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, State Police said in a news release.
Henderson rear ended 1985 Oldsmobile Delta, which caused him to cross the center line into oncoming traffic, where Henderson then sideswiped a 2013 Infiniti G37, according to the release.
Henderson, who was not buckled in at the time of the wreck, then hit a 2015 International box truck head-on and was ejected from his Expedition, the release states.
The Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
Bertha Brown, 37, and Leonard Payne Jr., 43, who drove the Infiniti and box truck respectively, were taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries, the release says.
Investigators do not suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from all four drivers involved.
