A warrant issued Wednesday accuses a 35-year-old Greenwell Springs woman in the death of a 6-year-old boy who was crushed by a four-wheeler during a joyride in late February.
Jodie Michelle Easley was driving six children on a 2013 Bad Boy ATV around 9 p.m. Feb. 28 at 18214 Keystone Ave., Greenwell Springs, when 6-year-old Kohen Kleinpeter took hold of the steering wheel, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office report says. Easley lost control of the four-wheeler, causing it to eject everyone as it flipped, landing on top of Kohen, the report says.
An autopsy determined Kohen died of blunt force trauma to the head, the report says.
The youngster’s sister suffered a severe injury to her leg, which was later repaired in surgery, the report says.
Test results concluded Easley had mixed alcohol with multiple controlled dangerous substances before the incident, the report says.
Easley, 17634 Lake Pass Drive, is wanted on a count of vehicular negligent homicide, vehicle negligent injury, DWI and careless operation.
Anyone with information on the incident can call the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division at (225) 389-4851.
