The owner of a north Baton Rouge house was pulled out of his burning dwelling and is in serious condition after a blaze Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at 2666 Michelli Drive around 3:58 p.m. and found fire coming from the front of the house, Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles said in a statement.

Neighbors pulled the house’s occupant out of a window after noticing smoke, he said. The man was treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

“Let’s keep him in our prayers,” Miles said.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze, which heavily damaged the one-story home including an estimated $30,000 in losses, but do not suspect foul play, Miles said.
