A Zachary High School student was arrested Thursday after threatening a fellow student with a gun and stealing four cellphones, Zachary police said.

Around 3 p.m., after school had let out for the day, Jarred Hopkins, 18, approached a student who had four cellphones, Police Chief David McDavid said.

After producing a gun, Hopkins demanded that the victim “give me what you’ve got there,” McDavid said. Hopkins then took the phones and ran from the campus.

McDavid said he wasn’t sure if all four phones were operational.

Hopkins was booked into Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, carrying a firearm on school property and disturbing the peace.
